There’s something to be said for starting your day right. That’s why I use this daily detox drink recipe every single day. I make a big batch of it every other week so it can come together in mere moments in my coffee mug.

This drink includes fresh lemon, ginger, garlic, maple syrup and turmeric. Each one of these on their own have amazing health benefits but when you put them all together it’s simply a powerhouse. This drink will help you lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, increase immunity, kill cancer cells, reduce belly fat. It’s packed with antioxidants, aids digestion and it’s great for your skin. It can also help to reduce your appetite!

This drink will make you pucker a little bit, but it’s well worth it. I freeze it into ice cubes sized portions for easy use every day, but there’s no reason you can’t just keep it in your fridge and take a shot every day. Whatever you prefer!

My daily routine helps to ground me, and starting the day with this daily detox drink recipe is a great way to start my day properly. Follow this with some Banana Faux-Gurt and Oil-Free Granola and you’ve got one heck of a healthy and filling breakfast!

UPDATE: I’ve added cinnamon and black pepper to this – so feel free to throw them in as well as an option. Pepper enhances curcumin absorption in the body by up to 2,000%, combining the spices magnifies their effects. It reduce inflammation and improve digestion amongst other delightful things!

Ingredients

  1. Add everything except for the turmeric to a high speed blender and crank on high until it is smooth. Technically you could add the turmeric now BUT I find if you blend it too long it’ll stain your blender - you don’t want that! Once it’s nice and blender decrease the speed and add the turmeric and mix for another 5 seconds or so, till it's all mixed nicely.

  2. Shots

You can store this in the fridge in a mason jar and pour out a shot at a time to either drink on its own or mix with water.

  3. Freezer Cubes

Pour into a large ice cube tray and freeze flat for at least a few hours.

Place 1 cube in a large coffee mug and pour boiling water over it. Stir to dissolve and allow to cool before drinking.

  1. Hi Jeremy! I love your channel! I’m making the detox shots today but with OJ. I forgot to buy more lemons lol Is lemon juice important?

    1. Lemons are packed with good stuff – just google it – but totally okay to switch it out with OJ as well – never tried it – bet it tastes better! 🙂

I love these shots sooooo much! Thanks for the recipe!!!

  3. Hi Jeremy,
I am hooked on your videos. Love to watch you make recipes and have the fam give there thoughts (S,A,B….). This is very helpful. Just a quick question, I’d like to know if you’ve used fresh turmeric or only the dry spice and if so, how much?
    Thanks from Sparta, New Jersey

    1. Hey Meg – thank you so much!!! I’ve only used the dry spice for the most part, but here’s a conversion if you want to use fresh: Approximately 1 teaspoon of dried turmeric is equal to 3 teaspoons — 1 tablespoon — of fresh turmeric.

  4. Tara says:

Cool!! I’m making this one today, thanks for the recipe 💛

Hi Jeremy, I gave this a try and it’s pretty good. I did not have enough lemons/citrus on hand to make a full cup of juice, so I cut off the peel and white pith of a lemon and an orange and blended the whole fruits. In the end, I added enough water to make 2 cups. This was enough to fill the ice cube tray and leave one shot to drink. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I am excited to add it to my WFPB diet!

    1. That’s good to know! Thanks for posting for others to see!
