Plant-Based Turkey Deli Meat

Plant-Based Turkey Deli Meat

The world is full of plant-based fake meats - which is really great. You can get them at restaurants and in the grocery store, but the problem is that most of them are overly processed and filled with ingredients that you don’t want. This Plant-Based Turkey Deli Meat is whole food plant-based. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t!

This is perfect for sandwiches and it slices beautifully. You can also use this with plant-based cheese and crackers. However you would use deli “meat” this works well. I even throw this on top of my plant-based pizza! It’s delicious that way! It’s similar to how I make my Seitan Pepperoni if you’ve already tried that!

This is made with tofu as one of the main ingredients so it’s packed with protein to give you everything you need for a perfect mid-day meal. The other ingredient in here that might look foreign to you is Vital Wheat Gluten. It’s available in the health aisle at any well stocked grocery store and you can get it in bulk stores as well. Worst case you can buy it online. Click on the word above for a link if that helps!

This is really simple to make. If you’ve got a food processor and an instant pot it makes it even easier, but there’s no reason that you couldn’t make the “meat” by hand and steam it in a pot on the stove. It just takes a little more time to come together, and a little more effort. But what an arm workout!

Stop buying that over-priced stuff from the store and make your own Plant-Based Turkey Deli Meat!

Description

Stop buying the overpriced stuff from the store and make your own Plant-Based Turkey Deli Meat! Sandwiches will never be the same!

Ingredients
  • 1 package Extra-Firm Tofu
  • 1 1/2 cup Vital Wheat Gluten
  • 3 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Miso Paste
  • 2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp No Salt-Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Sage
  • 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
Instructions
  1. Take all of your ingredients and toss them into a food processor and blend it until it forms into a ball. It won’t take that long. If you don’t have a food processor then you can do it by hand - it just sucks to do that. Seriously, it’ll take a bit to work it into shape - but I believe in you!

  2. Place the ball on some aluminum foil and shape it into a log. Wrap the foil around it and twist the ends. Don’t wrap it too tightly - you want to give it some room to expand. Steam it in an instant pot (or on the stove) for 1hr.

  3. After it’s finished steaming take it out of the foil, let it cool and then slice. It makes a large amount so feel free to freeze half of it. It’ll keep well! Makes enough for 8 sandwiches.
