Growing up chicken nuggets were a go-to in our house or even when we went out places. They are a safe, simple and delicious food and I want you to know that despite being plant-based they can still be a staple for parents and children alike. Behold my recipe to show you how to make tofu nuggets.
These come together very fast and I pretty much always make them with my crispy oil-free french fries. They’re really flexible and customizable to what you've got on hand. The ideal breading for me is corn flake, but I’ve been able to use pretty much any dry cereal in a pinch. Use whatever you have access to. If you like things on the spicy side feel free to add some cayenne pepper to the mix!
If you don’t have a lot of time to prep you can skip the marinade step below. It’s a really nice way to boost the flavours a little bit. It’s not going to make or break the dish.
These are a huge hit with everyone I’ve ever made them for. The fact that you can dip ‘em in, well, whatever you want, only makes them all the more awesome! Now that you know how to make tofu nuggets you have no excuse not to smash them into your face!
Kids love nuggets, so here’s now to make tofu nuggets. Healthy and plant-based and ready to be dipped in whatever you love.
Cut tofu into small pieces. Anywhere from one inch to a flat square. Whatever you want!
In an airtight container mix together all the marinade ingredient, add the tofu and let it marinate at least 15 minutes, and up to over night. Flip it over every so often to make sure everything gets soaked in it.
Combine the breading ingredients, add the apple cider vinegar to the plant milk and let sit for 5 minutes. Pour flour into a separate bowl.
Take the tofu out of the marinade and tip into the flour, shake off any extra and then dip into the milk mixture and then quickly toss it in the breading until coated and place on a silicon baking sheet. Repeat until all tofu is done.
Either fry on a non-stick pan for about 2-4 minutes per side or bake in oven at 400 F for twenty-five minutes, flipping halfway through.
Serve with dipping sauces or eat inside taco or sandwiches. Either way smash this into your face!
